The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) of Panama has announced the start of a process to dissolve legal entities that have failed to pay mandatory fees for over 10 years. The process will be carried out in stages under the control of a specially created committee. Initially, 180,883 legal entities will be subject to dissolution. Subsequent stages will process the remaining companies, as well as those with a suspended status in the Public Registry. The MEF clarified that this measure is the execution of an order from 2016, issued by the General Directorate of Revenue (DGI). The goal of this campaign is to improve the country's business environment and remove Panama from international blacklists.
