This Thursday, repair work began on a pipe that supplies drinking water to commercial and residential areas of the Cristóbal district and part of the Cristóbal Este district in the province of Colón.
Authorities are working on the damage that occurred on the 12-inch diameter water line, in front of the Silver City commercial plaza, leaving approximately 75,000 people without service.
The affected communities include: Sagrada Resurrección, Puerto Escondido, Nazareno, Villa del Caribe, and other populations.
Due to this damage, there are also impacts from the commercial area of Los Cuatro Altos to the community of Villa del Caribe.
Meanwhile, Juan Enciso, regional director of the National Aqueduct and Sewer Institute (IDAAN), reported that the line was closed to prevent water waste and avoid further damage to the asphalt layer on this road recently rehabilitated by the Ministry of Public Works.
He indicated that logistical support has been requested from the metropolitan management and IDAAN's special project crews to carry out this repair as soon as possible.
