The Ministry of Labor and Labor Development (Mitradel) reiterated that workers who work on Carnival Tuesday, considered a mandatory rest day, must receive extraordinary payments as established in the Labor Code.
The entity recalled that article 46 establishes that, if exceptionally a worker provides services on that day, they must receive their corresponding salary for the day, plus a 150% surcharge, in addition to a compensatory rest day within the same week.
Mitradel also specified that if the weekly rest day coincides with Carnival Tuesday, the employer will be obliged to grant an additional day off.
