Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino announced projects aimed at boosting the economy of Chiriquí province. He noted that in April, he will meet with Costa Rican authorities to discuss the border area. The president emphasized that the bilateral customs post must be ready by December, as it has been abandoned. He did not specify amounts but confirmed active business interest. Key projects include the Port of Barú, customs in Paso Canoas, and the Chiriquí-Panama railway. The goal is to create a development hub in the region and train local residents for future jobs. Mulino also mentioned the presence of Japanese investors and international companies, part of a strategy to rebuild confidence. A feasibility report for the railway is expected in May, which will determine its future. The president acknowledged issues with truck queues and aims to speed up cargo movement. He will also meet with Royal Caribbean Cruises executives interested in using the Port of Barú for ship repairs. In Puerto Armuelles, Mulino announced infrastructure projects dependent on further studies and agreements. The Ministry of Public Works announced the rehabilitation of the Aeropuerto-Pedregal road to the Seafood Market in David, as well as the Tapahueco project in Alto Boquete and Volcán.
