Cobre Emprende Program Expands Its Reach in Panama

Following its launch in 2025, Cobre Panamá's Cobre Emprende program continues to grow in 2026, expanding its reach not only to communities near the mine but also for the first time to the Ngäbe Buglé comarca, bringing real opportunities to these territories.

In this new phase, the program arrived in the community of El Bale, in the Ngäbe Buglé comarca, Veraguas province, where more than 70 entrepreneurs participated, receiving practical training aimed at strengthening and structuring their productive initiatives.

"The arrival in the comarca reaffirms that development must be inclusive and reach everyone," highlighted Maru Gálvez, Public Relations Manager of Cobre Panamá.

During 2025, Cobre Emprende managed to impact more than 600 entrepreneurs in districts such as La Pintada, Omar Torrijos, Donoso, and the capital city, with training processes that culminated in certifications and structured business plans, achieving excellent results.

This incorporation marks a significant step towards a more inclusive development with a greater presence in comarca territories.

Cobre Emprende is part of the tangible benefits that Cobre Panamá shares with the communities, thanks to the economic contributions generated by the company, which translate into concrete opportunities for hundreds of families.

Upon completing the program and obtaining their certification, 60 entrepreneurs will be selected to participate in a television show that will soon be broadcast nationwide, where they can showcase the growth of their businesses and compete for a seed capital of up to $5,000 to boost their projects.

This year, the program enters a phase of consolidation and expansion, incorporating new entrepreneurs from rural and comarca communities and providing opportunities to those who could not participate in the first phase.

"The growth of Cobre Emprende demonstrates that when concrete tools and constant support are provided, ideas can become sustainable businesses. Entrepreneurs who participated in this first phase have managed to increase their sales and improve the management of their businesses thanks to the tools acquired and the support received. With this expansion, Cobre Emprende reaffirms its commitment to grassroots economic development, promoting autonomy, local talent, and the creation of opportunities in rural and comarca communities."
