The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) thanked the residents and travelers of West Panama in advance, apologizing for the temporary inconveniences that the movement of machinery and personnel may cause during the construction of this logistics and tourist corridor. MOP announced the start of work on the Pan-American Highway for the expansion of the Corridor of the Beaches. This project will be carried out on the Pan-American Highway in the province of West Panama as part of the plans to optimize the national road network. Work will officially begin on March 16, 2026, and is expected to last approximately two and a half years. The working schedule will be from Monday to Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., although the ministry does not rule out the possibility of night work, which will be notified to users in advance. The intervention area is located on the Pan-American Highway, between the sectors of El Espino (La Chorrera) and Sajalices (Capira), passing through the area of the racetrack, which corresponds approximately to the section from kilometer 0 to kilometer 19. MOP called on drivers to follow the instructions of authorized personnel and respect speed limits and regulations on site, with the aim of preventing accidents and ensuring safe circulation for all users. The project aims to improve connectivity between the capital city and the interior provinces, reducing travel times and enhancing safety on this important segment of the Pan-American Highway. To mitigate the impact on vehicular flow, the MOP will enable temporary detours, ensuring that at least one lane remains operational in each direction during the construction period. The ministry informed that the construction area will have rigorous preventive signage and constant supervision by road safety personnel.
