Panamanian unions launch first aviation English diploma program. The Panamanian Union of Commercial Aviators (UNPAC), in conjunction with the Languages Center of the Humanities Faculty of the University of Panama (CELUP), has launched the first Diploma in Aviation English. This academic initiative aims to strengthen the professional preparation of Panamanian aviators for specialized communication within the aviation sector. This program marks the first academic diploma developed as part of the alliance between UNPAC and the University of Panama, with the objective of strengthening the aviation communication skills of pilots, in line with the standards established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The diploma will be 80 academic hours in a virtual format and will begin with a first group of 40 Panamanian pilots affiliated with UNPAC. The general secretary of UNPAC, Ilma Velásquez, highlighted the importance of this academic initiative and explained that with this diploma, 'a new stage begins in the linguistic preparation of Panamanian aviators,' strengthening their capabilities in a key area for the safe and efficient exercise of aviation. The diploma is structured into three main academic components: General English, Aviation English, and Components of Aviation English, areas designed to cover the technical focus required by international aviation communication.
