Water Project in Ciricito, Colón, Shows 26% Progress

The construction of a new water system in Colón, Panama, has reached 26.75% progress. The project includes installing 14 km of pipes and building two new tanks to provide drinking water to several communities.

The construction, operation, and maintenance project for the new drinking water system, which will benefit several communities in the Ciricito district bordering Lake Gatun in the Colón province, shows a 26.75% progress. Orlando Barrera, representing the Chagres Consortium, informed that among the works already executed, the installation of 14 kilometers of pipes stands out, as well as ongoing work on assembling steel beams and formwork. He indicated that the aqueduct system contemplates a main 8-inch pipeline with 6 and 4-inch branches. Additionally, the total installation of valves and the completion of maintenance and repair boxes are reported. He stated that the communities of Chorrillo, Nueva América, and Caña Brava already have structures ready, while the water intake will be built in the El Porvenir sector. The project also includes the construction of two new reserve tanks. The evaluation of the work was carried out by officials from the Territorial Development Directorate of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (DDT/MEF).
