As a result of investigations conducted by the end of February 2026, Acodeco sanctioned five economic agents, including two banks, two financial firms, and one debt collection company. The Autoridad de Protección al Consumidor y Defensa de la Competencia (Acodeco) received 228 complaints between January and March 2026 regarding alleged irregularities in credit histories. The reports reflect violations of Law 24 of 2002, according to the entity's Investigation Department. The main consumer complaints are related to information that does not correspond or incorrect records within the credit history. Among the most frequent cases are requests to delete records for having no relation to the economic agent, deletion for debt expiration, and corrections in amounts or account status reported. Requests to rectify erroneous data are also reported, such as incorrectly registered numbers, changes from active to canceled accounts, and the removal of negative remarks. The total amount of the fines imposed is B/.9,000.00 for failing to comply with current regulations. The entity reminded consumers that they have the right to request the correction, deletion, or updating of their information when they believe it has been reported incorrectly. It also reiterated that it will continue to monitor compliance with the law to ensure transparency in the handling of credit data.
