The airline announced the integration of onboard Wi-Fi connectivity via Starlink and the expansion of the Panama Stopover program, which will allow passengers to stay in the country for up to 15 days at no additional cost to the airfare. In tourism, the Panama Stopover program will continue to be one of the main tools for converting connectivity into visitors and economic activity. With three daily flights and up to four on weekends, the airline increases its capacity by approximately 40% in seats. In parallel, Copa Airlines announced the integration of Starlink as the provider of onboard Wi-Fi connectivity for its fleet. The company becomes the first airline in Latin America to implement this technology, based on a network of satellites in orbit that allows access to high-speed, low-latency internet. The company indicated that this innovation seeks to improve the passenger experience during the flight, facilitating access to digital services in real time. Currently, about 25% of passengers arriving at this destination come from connections through the Americas Hub. The deployment of the service is scheduled to begin in July 2026. After reaching 215,000 tourists in 2025, a 25% increase from the previous year, the program projects to reach 250,000 visitors in 2026, strengthening the arrival of travelers and the dynamism of sectors linked to tourist activity. As a novelty, the program will extend from 7 to 15 days the period that passengers can stay in the country at no additional cost, which opens up greater possibilities to discover more destinations within Panama. In that context, destinations such as David, in the province of Chiriquí, continue to gain relevance.
