Technical Review of New Educational Center Construction in Puerto Lara

The technical team of the Project Coordinating Unit-UCP of the Ministry of Government, led by architect Ricardo Testa, conducted a follow-up review of the construction of the Boca de Lara Educational Center in the Puerto Lara community, within the Wounaan national territory. The review confirmed the favorable progress of the project and paves the way for the corresponding process before the General Comptroller's Office of the Republic for the subsequent delivery of the infrastructure to the community. This educational center in the Wounaan territory serves children from kindergarten to middle school, with an enrollment of 162 students. It is part of the Project to Support the Integral Development Plan of the Indigenous Peoples of Panama, financed by the World Bank and executed by the Ministry of Government through the Project Coordinating Unit and its partner, the Ministry of Education. The new school will feature 11 classrooms, a modern computer and science lab, an administrative office, a multi-purpose room, internet access, a cafeteria, security cameras, alarms, fire extinguishers, a septic tank, a water treatment plant, a water reserve tank, and other amenities for a proper school environment. This new infrastructure will benefit over a thousand direct and indirect residents of Puerto Lara and neighboring communities; a significant increase in enrollment is expected, with high-quality education, favoring the population's development and strengthening its culture and traditions.
