An important step towards improving education in the Ngäbe-Buglé Comarca has been taken with the official handover of the first three educational centers with modern and comfortable facilities. The new schools, located in Llano Iglesia, Alto Calabacito, and Alto Bonito, marked a turning point for over 700 students, who are leaving behind the old 'ranch schools' — precarious spaces that had been abandoned for nearly nine years. The new infrastructure represents a significant advance in improving the quality of education for the inhabitants of these communities, who have for years fought for access to decent learning conditions. The rehabilitation works were led by the Ministry of Education (Meduca), which reactivated the construction and modernization of the facilities with the aim of offering suitable spaces for teaching. Although three more centers are in the process of being handed over, this project has already transformed the reality of hundreds of students, who now have safer and more appropriate classrooms, bathrooms, and common spaces for their education.
