Panamanian Police Rescues Abandoned Newborn

National Police units rescued a newborn abandoned near water tanks. The baby is in stable condition. Authorities have launched an investigation.


National Police units rescued a newborn baby who was abandoned near the IDAAN water reserve tanks in the Tinajitas area, Omar Torrijos district. According to the National Police, medical staff reported that the newborn, who was only about four hours old, was in stable condition. The rescue took place after officers received a citizen alert via the 104 hotline. Following the alert call, police units immediately rushed to the scene and proceeded to transport the baby to the Dr. Generoso Guardia Polyclinic, where she was attended to by medical personnel. The Public Prosecutor's Office has initiated an investigation of its own to locate the infant's mother, so that she can be held accountable for the crime committed. The authorities have informed that they have started the corresponding investigations to clarify this incident and reiterate their firm commitment to protecting the life and integrity of the most vulnerable. This baby was also in stable condition.
