In Panama, a person was killed on the road leading to Soná, a district in Santiago, Veraguas province. Unofficial details indicate that the incident occurred last night in the community of Las Peñitas de Río de Jesús. Area residents claim the crash was a result of speeding.
Residents have been asking authorities to install road signs for years because many people walk along the shoulder of the road when going to or from their agricultural work, and to date, their requests have been ignored. Additionally, other locals point out that there has been a lack of streetlights on the road towards Río de Jesús for years, as there are only some at the entrance to the community.
