An incident this Sunday afternoon raised alarms again at the La Joya Penitentiary Center, after the launch of an object via a drone caused tension, the use of tear gas, and an emergency search in Pavilion 4, one of the most conflict-ridden areas of the penitentiary. According to the preliminary official report from prison officer Danni Del Cid (ID 5508), the incident occurred around 5:50 p.m., when the police unit in the surveillance tower observed a drone drop a package near the pavilion. Immediately, several inmates attempted to seize the object. Faced with the situation, guards sounded the alarm, and police units entered the area, firing tear gas to disperse the inmates and regain control. Minutes later, a search was carried out inside the pavilion, the results of which have not yet been revealed. Authorities reported that they are awaiting more official details about the contents of the dropped package and the actions taken within the prison. Separately, a version of a shooting that left two inmates injured circulated on social media.
