José del Carmen "Tito" Combe, a renowned artisan specializing in traditional costumes, will be the flag bearer for the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) delegation in the Parade of a Thousand Polleras. María Eugenia Herrera, Minister of Culture, formally presented the distinction to "Tito Combe," founder of "SD Folk Tito Combe," who expressed his pride and honor for the recognition in a post. Combe, a native of Santo Domingo de Las Tablas, is dedicated to preserving the traditions of Santa Ana in the making of gala polleras, camisillas, and montunas, a craft for which he has received numerous awards throughout his career. In this regard, the artisan will head the institution's delegation at this folk festival on January 17, 2026, where the most beautiful polleras in the country come together, converging with traditional music and gastronomy. This distinction, to be held on January 16 at the Vereda de las Mil Polleras event stage, is awarded to individuals who have dedicated their lives and talents to the preservation and transmission of knowledge and local culture. Meanwhile, tamborito singer Lucrecio "Yejo" Cedeño and renowned pollera artisan Bella Herminda González de Cedeño will receive the "Folklore Stars 2026" award. Herrera, along with the regional director of the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP), delivered the notifications to these two individuals, who will be among the four folkloric exponents to be honored.
