On Wednesday morning, in the community of Alto de Los Lagos, in the corregimiento of Cristóbal Este, province of Colón, a taxi passenger died and a taxi driver was injured as a result of a sicario-style attack. Preliminary information indicates that the driver entered the populous community with his passenger when a motorcycle with two people on board approached them. Both were dressed as food delivery couriers, according to witnesses in the area. One of the occupants, the passenger on the motorcycle, drew a weapon and opened fire on the taxi, leaving the passenger as the main victim near towers H-80 and H-81 of the housing complex. After the attack, the aggressors abandoned the motorcycle at the scene, which led the authorities to cordon off the area to begin initial procedures by the National Police. The taxi driver was injured in the legs but managed to drive to the emergency room of Dr. Manuel Amador Guerrero Hospital, where he received medical attention. The passenger arrived at the emergency room with no vital signs. The authorities have initiated the corresponding investigation for this 104th homicide so far this year in this region of the country.
