France Square Restoration Project Awarded in Panama

Panama's Ministry of Culture has awarded a $5.9 million contract to Aprocosa for the comprehensive restoration of France Square in the historic San Felipe district. The 30-month project will restore the colonial wall, hemicycle, and surrounding areas.


France Square Restoration Project Awarded in Panama

The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) announced the awarding of the project for the comprehensive restoration and enhancement of France Square, one of the most emblematic spaces of the Historic Monumental Complex of the Old Town of San Felipe.

The corresponding contract for public tender 2025-0-28-01-08-LP-000014 was granted to the company Administradora de Proyectos de Construcción S.A. (Aprocosa) for an amount of $5,963,217.00.

The project will have a total execution period of 30 months and covers an intervention area of 7,120.04 square meters, of which 5,777.48 correspond to surfaces subject to restoration, including France Square, green areas, hemicycle, colonial wall, and a section of the Esteban Huertas Promenade (Plot No. 321003).

Its execution is divided into five main phases, planned to guarantee the conservation of the site's historical value and the improvement of its urban and heritage infrastructure, MiCultura reported in a press release.
