Eighth and ninth-grade students from the Santa María de Belén Educational Center, located in the Cristóbal Este area of Colón, made a series of recommendations for the care of the artificial lake in the Altos de Los Lagos residential area. They detailed that residents must care for this body of water to prevent pollution. This lake is home to species such as turtles and lizards, which have made this place their natural habitat. The students titled their field study: 'Study of water quality and biodiversity of the artificial lake in Altos de Los Lagos'. During the event, the students presented the objectives of the study, the methodology applied, the main results obtained, and the conclusions reached, which were the product of a process that included fieldwork, data collection, and analysis. This initiative helped strengthen scientific thinking, environmental responsibility, and the connection of the educational community with its natural environment. This type of student participation is fundamental, as it contributes to the development of critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills, while transforming theoretical learning into practical experiences. These initiatives stimulate curiosity, promote scientific vocations, and strengthen skills, preparing students for real-world challenges and their future academic and professional careers.
