An accident on the afternoon of Thursday, December 25, left at least 13 people injured. The incident occurred on the bridge over the Mamoní River, in the sector of Las Margaritas. A bus on the Cañita–Panama route and a pickup truck were involved in the crash. The strong impact caused chaos among passengers and drivers in the area. The emergency was attended to by 8 units from the Panama East Regional Fire Department, including two ambulances from the Pre-Hospital Medical Attention Service (SAMER). Among the 13 injured was a 10-month-old infant, who was urgently transferred to the nearest hospital for evaluation. One adult suffered a femur fracture, considered the most serious injury in the accident. The driver of the pickup, who had the most severe injuries, was the first to be taken to a medical center, followed by the rest of the victims, all taken for evaluation and specialized care. Due to the magnitude of the incident, it was necessary to request additional ambulance support from other institutions, including the Social Security Fund, while SENAFRONT units collaborated in area security and assistance. Firefighters carried out rescue operations, scene control, and evacuation of the injured, maintaining operational control until the situation was fully stabilized.
