A man of about 30 years died on Friday after a collision on the main road of the community of Las Mercedes, Divalá, in the Chiriquí province of Panama. The vehicle, a small white pickup, was stopped after hitting a manhole cover and an electrical pole, which was tilted after the impact. It is believed that the driver was speeding and lost control of the steering wheel, leaving the road and causing the crash.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and helped extract the vehicle occupants. Survivors were transported in ambulances to José Félix Espinoza (Bugaba) and Regional Rafael Hernández (David) hospitals. Unfortunately, another passenger died from the polytrauma suffered during the collision.
The victim did not have identity documents, so her body will be transported to the judicial morgue in David as unidentified. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident and ask the community to respect traffic rules.
