A man was surprised Sunday night in a home in the Altos de Los Portals area, in the San Judas Tadeo community, Cativá district, Colón province. According to initial reports, the victim was at his home and when he went out for a moment, shots were heard; he was then seen lying on the ground. Apparently, the gunmen fled through a bushy area, shooting directly at the victim, who received several bullet impacts. The man died at the scene and was identified as Luis Carlos Martínez. National Police agents cordoned off the entire perimeter between the second and third streets, while personnel from the Public Ministry collected evidence, tests, and clues, and carried out the body recovery, which was transferred to the judicial morgue in the city of Colón. This is the second person to lose their life in this new year 2026.
