The National Police conducted a major security operation this weekend at various beaches and rivers in the Chame and San Carlos districts to ensure the safety of families enjoying recreational activities at these resorts. Deputy Commissioner José Córdoba, in charge of the Chame and San Carlos police zone, reported that as part of Operation Odysseus, operations are being carried out to ensure safe beaches for bus tours, as they must comply with the mayor's permits and off-route regulations, and have an appropriate lifeguard. The commissioner added that they are conducting checkpoints and patrols on the beaches to locate individuals wanted by authorities and prevent the entry of illicit substances and weapons. Authorities called on the public to respect the rules, use necessary safety equipment, and cooperate with police units to prevent incidents. Citizens wanted by authorities were also checked as part of preventive strategies to maintain order and security in these tourist areas. During the operation, agents verified that family outings complied with established safety measures, including the use of life jackets and permits for aquatic activities. These operations will continue throughout the summer.
