Teenager killed in shooting in Panama

In Colón province, Panama, a 14-year-old teenager was killed in a shooting. Another person was injured. Authorities are searching for the perpetrators.


The community remains in shock as authorities seek to clarify the crime. According to preliminary information, several individuals arrived at one of the community's streets and opened fire. In the attack, another teenager was injured. Unfortunately, Vargas's death was confirmed. The other teenager was shot in the right leg and taken to a medical center for treatment. After the shooting, the gunmen fled in the middle of the night. Juan Alberto Vargas, 14, is the son of singer Jr. Ranks. This incident activated police operations in different sectors to track down those responsible. Ranks and another injured person were the result of a violence incident that occurred on Wednesday night in the June 16 community, in the corregimiento of Cristóbal, Colón province. Both injured were transferred to the emergency room to receive medical attention. In 2025, Colón province recorded over 100 homicides; so far this year, a total of seven people have been victims of violence.
