Wind and Waves Cause Tower Collapse in Colon

A powerful storm caused the collapse of a key navigation structure in the Port of Colon. The maritime authority is working to mitigate the impact on shipping safety.

Strong gusts of wind and waves caused the collapse of the signaling tower on the breakwater in Colón. This fixed maritime signal serves to mark the entrance to the navigable internal waters of the aforementioned canal, being a key element for navigation safety in the area. A technical and operational team from the AMP (Panama Maritime Authority) is evaluating and managing, with priority, the actions to address this situation in the shortest possible time, in order to mitigate risks and restore optimal signaling conditions.
