Capira Carnival Expects Over 100,000 Attendees

Panama - The Capira Municipality and security forces are preparing to receive more than 100,000 people during the four days of carnival. Ket Wong Yau, mayor of this district, said that in coordination with the National Police (PN) and the National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC), four access control points have been established for people. SINAPROC, adds Mayor Yau, will define, based on capacity, the number of people who can access the areas where the parades will take place. In addition, an agreement has been reached with the Ministry of Health (MINSA) to extend the operating hours of the health center located in the Capira headquarters. For the carnival, the Capira municipality is granting 5 thousand dollars to the 'calle arriba y calle abajo' troupes, in addition to an unspecified amount to the two carnival queens. Subcommissioner José Córdoba, head of the Chame Nineteenth Police Zone, said that a security operation has already been set up with four review filters and units in the external area of the carnival. For this operation, 200 police units have been assigned, specified Subcommissioner Córdoba, distributed in several shifts. This year, both carnival queens have promised that they will have the 'tonas prende parks', which have already passed the review of the mayor's office.
