A fatal traffic accident occurred in the province of Chiriquí (Panama). A man apparently jumped from the truck's cabin to save his life but died after falling from a bridge that serves as a natural boundary between the districts of Chiriquí and Las Lomas. Paramedics arrived at the scene, but the man was already dead. Consequently, specialists in accident investigation from the Ministry of Public Security were called to conduct a survey of the scene, as well as experts from the Institute of Forensic Medicine and Forensic Sciences (IMELCF) to carry out the body recovery procedure. The investigation must determine whether the driver died from being run over by the truck or from hitting the guardrails upon falling. With this case, the number of traffic fatalities in Chiriquí so far this year has reached 10, marking the second one in February. Unofficially, it was reported that the truck driver, for unknown reasons, lost control of the steering wheel, and the articulated truck crashed into the inner barriers that separate the four lanes of the highway. Sunday in Panama began with bloody events. A new victim of a traffic accident was registered in Chiriquí.
