Panama Deploys Security Forces for Carnival Safety

Panama - More than 30,000 units from different security sectors were deployed this Friday morning to various points across the country as part of the 'Secure Carnival 2026' operation. The deployment of hundreds of units from the National Police, National Aeronaval Service (Senan), Fire Department, National Border Service (Senafront), and National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) aims to reinforce security throughout the national territory during these festive days. Minister of Security Frank Alexis Ábrego highlighted that the deployment of Public Force personnel was carried out with all available land, naval, and air resources. Meanwhile, the Police Director detailed that this is a strategy aimed at strengthening joint work with security agencies and institutions, both operationally and preventively, for the events that will take place nationwide during this festivity. Luis De Gracia, head of Senan, stated that this inter-institutional deployment reinforces preventive and operational actions nationwide, with a firm commitment to guarantee security, peaceful coexistence, and social peace during the carnival festivities. The operation is also supported by personnel from the Unique Emergency Management Service (Sume), Red Cross, Social Security Fund (CSS), Ministry of Health (Minsa), and others, to ensure the health care and food safety of carnival-goers. The event was presided over by the Minister of Public Security and attended by the General Director of the National Police, Jaime Fernández; Luis De Gracia, head of Senan; Colonel Víctor Raúl Álvarez, Director of the Fire Department, as well as representatives from various institutions.
