What was supposed to be a party with music turned into an alarm for the authorities. The authorities insist that their commitment is to guarantee the well-being of the victims, prevent their revictimization, and ensure that the perpetrators face severe criminal penalties. Meanwhile, they are calling on the public to remain alert and to report any act that violates the rights of children, adolescents, and teenagers, reminding that these acts are not only illegal but also seriously harm the most vulnerable.
The Metropolitan Prosecutor's Office has opened investigations following complaints and the circulation of videos with sexual content during the 2026 Carnival, directly affecting minors in several provinces. In a statement, the Attorney General's Office explained that the investigations are for possible crimes of corruption of minors, commercial sexual exploitation, and other conduct typified in the Penal Code. “The investigations are generated after complaints presented and also due to videos with sexual content that circulate on social networks and digital media,” the entity detailed.
According to the law, article 179 sanctions with imprisonment of eight to ten years whoever corrupts or promotes the corruption of a minor, while articles 184 and 187 establish penalties of up to fifteen years for the production or dissemination of sexual material involving children or adolescents. The Prosecutor's Office is also reviewing other reports of sexual crimes that occurred during the festivities, with the objective of identifying those responsible and bringing them to justice.
