More than 5 thousand teachers in the province of Colón began this week the organization to start the 2026 school year next week, with the arrival of students at educational centers on Monday, March 2. Rosa Martínez, regional director of the Ministry of Education (Meduca), informed that these 5 thousand teachers are distributed in official and private educational centers to attend to a population of 61 thousand students. The teacher indicated that in recent days, some 404 new teachers have already signed their appointments, who have been integrating into their educational centers. When asked if there is any educational center that will not start classes, she said that tentatively there is one. She highlighted that "there is no final decision, but the San Vicente de Paul educational center is up in the air". The regional head of Meduca pointed out that an evaluation of the works carried out in that plant is being carried out and the opinion of specialists and the construction company that carried out the works is awaited, to determine if classes will start in person. She added that they have advanced substantially in the repairs of the educational centers, including those affected in recent weeks by the bad weather; all have already been repaired.
