The 2026 school year began in the province of Veraguas with 90% normality, according to Professor María Pimentel, regional director of Education. Pimentel explained that despite good attendance recorded in most educational centers, there are some special cases that are already being handled by the Regional Directorate. She indicated that several teachers decided to leave their posts in certain schools, which has forced the entity to begin the process for appointing new teachers and ensuring the continuity of the teaching-learning process. "We are making the necessary arrangements to fill those vacancies as soon as possible so that students are not affected," Pimentel stated. Regarding hard-to-reach areas, the regional director mentioned that some logistical situations have arisen. She specified that a vessel that attempted to transport several educators to a school located in the northern district of Santa Fe managed to complete the journey yesterday due to transportation issues. However, she assured that the necessary coordination has been carried out so that teachers can arrive this Monday at their respective educational centers in these remote communities.
