Unpac Honors Retired Pilots for Aviation Legacy

The Panamanian Union of Commercial Pilots (Unpac) honored retired Captains Bayardo Herrera and Germinal Sarasqueta for their key role in developing the country's aviation industry. Historical aviation documents were presented to the veterans, whose contributions were hailed as an example for future generations.


Unpac Honors Retired Pilots for Aviation Legacy

The Panamanian Union of Commercial Pilots (Unpac) held a ceremony to honor retired Panamanian pilots for their professional career and contributions to the development of Panamanian aviation. The event was a testament to the admiration and respect for the retired pilots, Captains Bayardo Herrera and Germinal Sarasqueta, both representative figures in the country's aviation industry development process. Captain Herrera represented the leadership of the guild of Panamanian commercial pilots, maintaining a focus on promoting and preserving the aviation profession in Panama. Captain Sarasqueta holds two master's degrees in aviation, as well as an important body of specialized literature in the sector; he was also Panama's representative to the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). During the event, the Unpac was presented with the historical records of aviation in Panama by the Panamanian Academy of Aviation History, a document that chronicles the emergence, evolution, development, and presence of the Panamanian aviation industry. Captain Ilma Velásquez, General Secretary of Unpac, highlighted the importance of recognizing figures in aviation such as Sarasqueta and Herrera, who with their work and contributions helped shape what the aviation sector is today, serving as an example for current and future generations of Panamanian pilots.
