Panama - Three containers holding hydraulic oil and other highly flammable waste caught fire last night in the El Líbano sector, Punta Chame. This prompted the dispatch of about 25 units from the Panama West Fire Department to the scene to handle the emergency. Colonel Ricardo Gibbs, commander and first chief of the Panama West Regional Zone, explained that the emergency was reported as a fire in several containers, which immediately activated the deployment of units to the site. He added that upon arrival, containment maneuvers were carried out to prevent the fire from spreading to other containers. In turn, Major Yair Ruiz, head of Operations for the Panama West Regional Zone, pointed out that the event also involved a vegetation fire in the yard where the containers were located. Thanks to the timely intervention, the flames were contained and the situation was brought under control. The operation involved units from at least four fire stations, structural firefighting vehicles, rapid intervention units, ambulances, and rescue equipment.
