The National Border Service (Senafront) reported on a maritime incident in the waters of Guna Yala, where they managed to rescue 20 people alive; unfortunately, they confirmed the death of an 8-year-old girl of Venezuelan nationality. The accident occurred during the reverse migration flow, immediately activating emergency protocols and deploying units from the Caribbean Brigade.

After departing from the Port of Llano Cartí towards La Miel in Puerto Obaldía, three boats were affected by adverse maritime conditions, which led two of them to suspend their journey. Despite warnings from the authorities, a machinist decided to continue the route, triggering the tragedy.

The vessel ABDOM, which was carrying 21 people, suffered the incident, but rescue efforts managed to save 20 occupants, who are now receiving medical attention and humanitarian assistance from the border police.
