The Council of Cabinet approved the Ministry of Health (Minsa) to carry out, through an exceptional procedure, a contract for the "Comprehensive specialized service for health and environmental protection through the proper management of hospital waste, the supply of inputs, and the remodeling of infrastructure in health facilities nationwide".
The contract between Minsa and the company Construcciones, Limpiezas y Equipo, S.A. is for a total amount of twenty million four hundred and forty balboas and aims for the correct management of hazardous hospital waste for 12 months, which is essential for health and environmental protection.
It is highlighted that Minsa considers the execution of this service a priority to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant handling with current regulations.
According to the Cabinet Resolution, this component represents a critical area within the public health system, which is why it is necessary to keep it up to date, taking into account that the inadequate disposal of waste entails serious risks to human health, the environment, and the security of communities.
This follows the participation of 5 companies with their offers, which include collection, handling, and final disposal, choosing the most economical proposal in the two delimited zones.
The contracting is based on numeral 5 of article 79 of the Single Text of Law 22 of 2006, ordered by Law 153 of 2020, which regulates Public Procurements, and article 83 of the Single Text of Law 22 of June 27, 2006.
