6-Month-Old Girl Dies of Malnutrition in Panama

A 6-month-old indigenous girl died in Panama due to malnutrition and a severe case of diarrhea. The tragedy occurred in a humble dwelling in the San Antonio sector of the Rodolfo Aguilar Delgado district in Barú, Chiriquí. According to reports, the baby's parents had transferred her from the Renacimiento sector to receive medical attention at the Rodolfo Aguilar health center. However, despite being evaluated, they did not have the money to purchase the medications prescribed by the doctor. The baby's condition persisted until her little body could no longer resist and she passed away. Ana Guerra, a representative of Rodolfo Aguilar Delgado, expressed concern over the alarming level of extreme poverty affecting residents of the district, where few people have decent jobs. It is hoped that some companies will establish themselves in the region to invest and improve the community's quality of life.
