The National System for Civil Protection (Sinaproc) is monitoring the situation in the Bocas del Toro province, where adverse weather conditions have already caused impacts. According to the Panama Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (IMHPA), the areas at the highest risk for the coming hours are: Bocas del Toro, Guna Yala region, Ngäbe Buglé region, Northern Coclé, and Northern Veraguas. Central provinces and the metropolitan region are also under surveillance.
Heavy rains have caused flooding due to the overflowing of the Yorkín River in Finca 30. Among the risks predicted by the authorities are: significant rainfall accumulations, sudden river and stream surges, electrical discharges, variable intensity winds, and minor landslides (especially in prone areas with saturated soil). Colon, Darien, Chiriqui, Northern, Eastern, and Central Panama, and West Panama will also be affected.
Additionally, an assessment was carried out on a residence affected by water intrusion in the Miller neighborhood of El Silencio in Changuinola, Bocas del Toro province. This Saturday, November 29th, Sinaproc will continue with evaluations in the area.
Meanwhile, the National System for Civil Protection (Sinaproc) has activated its surveillance and rescue teams, reporting that atmospheric instability will generate rain, electrical storms, and strong winds in much of the country. During the night of Friday, Sinaproc's response personnel conducted an assessment in Thebroma community, Huraca sector.
The Panama Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (IMHPA) has issued a watch warning for significant rainfall and electrical activity. The eastern area of the province of Panama is under special surveillance, including specific monitoring zones such as Tortí, Cañitas, El Llano, Chepo head town, Bayano community, and border sectors with Darién. The western sector of the Azuero Peninsula also remains on alert.
