The presidential couple expressed their support and admiration for her struggle and the campaign she leads with the Activo 20-30 Club. "I am sure the goal will be achieved, I will give you all the support," President Mulino told the Teletón's symbol girl, while praising the important objective that this year the Activo 20-30 Club has set for children who require complex surgeries and who currently have to have them abroad. Hailing from La Palma, Darién province, 8-year-old Elizabeth shared with President Mulino her aspiration to be a doctor. "She is completely tied to the project we have," he said. He also explained that the goal of the Teletón is to raise funds for the creation of the Prenatal Diagnosis Center at Santo Tomás Hospital. Elizabeth was born with spina bifida, which has led her and her family to face multiple neurological, urological, and orthopedic challenges, with a constant struggle between surgeries, therapies, and medical consultations. "I invite everyone to support us to reach the goal," Elizabeth reminded after concluding her meeting with the head of state. The President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, and his wife, the First Lady Maricel Mulino de Cohende, today received in the Yellow Hall of the Las Garzas Palace the Teletón 20-30 2025 Ambassador, Elizabeth del Carmen Acosta Bristán. "We are very happy about this reception, but above all that you receive our ambassador, who is our inspiration," they stated. This center will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology so that specialists can detect any anomaly in the development of pregnancy, establish treatments, and in many cases, perform surgeries inside the mother's womb to correct special conditions, such as spina bifida, the condition with which the symbol girl was born. In statistics, of the more than 10,000 births registered annually at Santo Tomás Hospital, between 1,200 and 1,600 have some type of complexity in gestational development. The Teletón 20-30 will take place at the Atlapa Convention Center's Anayansi Theater on December 12 and 13. For his part, Carlos Terrago, president of Teletón 20-30 2025, thanked the reception and the support announced by the presidential couple. The equipment they seek to acquire will allow doctors to identify and treat these problems early, reducing or eliminating complications during gestation.
