Panama's Health Ministry Clarifies Health Services Integration

Panama's Health Ministry states that integrating with the Social Security System will not shift costs to patients. Each institution will cover its own expenses. The goal is to optimize resources and strengthen public health care for everyone.

Panama's Health Ministry Clarifies Health Services Integration

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) informs the general public that the process of integrating services with the Social Security System (CSS) will not, in any case, involve transferring the costs of caring for uninsured patients to the finances of the CSS.

Within the integration process, each institution (Minsa and CSS) will bear the costs generated by the care of patients in health facilities, both of Minsa and CSS.

This Minsa–CSS integration aims to optimize the resources of the public health system, eliminating the duplication of services and strengthening care for the entire population.

With this strategy, it seeks to guarantee a more efficient use of infrastructure, personnel, and installed capacity, ensuring timely and quality access.

Minsa reaffirms its commitment to transparency and the well-being of all users of the health system, ensuring that no patient will have their access affected due to this integration.
