The National System for Family and Childhood Institute (SENNIAF) is providing the child with a safe family alternative where she can breathe peacefully. In parallel, SENNIAF has also taken steps to accompany the mother. A video of a mother assaulting her own baby went viral on social networks, and the atmosphere in La Guaira, Colón, became heavy. As soon as the video began to circulate, SENNIAF personnel went to the site immediately. The Regional Office team reviewed the case and confirmed what was happening. At the scene, they confirmed that the girl was no longer with her mother but under the care of a relative in a safe environment, far from danger and surrounded by people who are truly protecting her. The case was passed directly to the authorities, who activated the corresponding protection measure to shield the minor. The aim is not to justify anything, but to induce the family into a strengthening process, teaching parenting practices that do not put the girl at risk and preventing something like this from happening again. The institution made it clear that it will continue to work in conjunction with the authorities, without letting go of the follow-up and ensuring that the baby is cared for, protected, and surrounded by what she should have always had: a safe and dignified environment.
