In about 18 months, the Pet Hospital will become a reality after the groundbreaking ceremony for this project took place on Wednesday morning. This hospital was a campaign promise of President José Raúl Mulino, who also attended the event.
The head of MIDA (Ministry of Agricultural Development) assured that no pet will be left without veterinary care, although the center's capacity has not yet been determined.
Linares recalled that "many pet diseases can be transmitted to humans, and these issues will be addressed here. In the end, both pets and the citizenry will benefit."
In this regard, the First Lady stated that more than 19,000 pets have been sterilized, and this, she said, "is thanks to donations, institutions, companies, and the Panamanian people who support us."
"The idea is to build other pet hospitals throughout the country, this one being the largest," Linares pointed out, adding that "an affordable price" will be offered.
According to First Lady Maricel Cohen de Mulino, the hospital will be able to perform surgeries on animals, continue sterilizations, as well as provide general medicine and orthopedic care.
"There will be everything needed in a hospital to treat an animal that has had an accident or is sick so that it can overcome that trauma," the First Lady stated.
Meanwhile, Roberto Linares, Minister of Agricultural Development (MIDA), said the work would be ready in 18 months and they are already working to build another one in David, Chiriquí.
