In total, there were 3,224 women and 2,066 men; 71% insured and 29% uninsured. With this new building, the National Oncology Institute becomes a true hope for Panamanians facing cancer, bringing quality, modern, and humane care without having to leave the country.

The new building of the National Oncology Institute (ION) will be located in the Ciudad de la Salud and promises to change the lives of thousands of patients. The center will feature nine levels of care, including an outpatient chemotherapy room with 90 chairs and eight beds for prolonged treatments.

In total, 19,670 square meters will be built dedicated to health care. This project is part of the Minsa-CSS agreement, which aims to optimize the services of the Ciudad de la Salud and improve the quality of care for each person who comes to the Institute.

In 2024 alone, the ION's Outpatient Clinic served 5,290 patients: Panama led with 2,156 people, followed by Panama West with 854 and Chiriquí with 629.

With an investment of over 95 million dollars, Panama is preparing to make a giant leap in oncological care. Additionally, it will have a clinical and molecular laboratory for hematology, ensuring faster and more accurate diagnoses.

For family members and patients, comfort is also a priority: a six-level parking building with 272 spaces and 92 consulting rooms in more than 15 clinical specialties will be ready to meet the demand.
