Hot Weather and Showers Forecast for Panama

Panama - A hot day with maximum temperatures ranging between 29 and 33 degrees Celsius, accompanied by high ultraviolet radiation and light rain, is forecast for this Tuesday by the Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Panama (Imhpa). The report from meteorologist Pilas López details that the maximum temperatures in the Caribbean will mostly be between 30 and 31 °C, and in the Pacific between 29 °C and up to 33 °C, but in the central mountain range they will be slightly lower. Regarding ultraviolet radiation, the specialist assured that it will remain high to very high nationwide, so low sun exposure and plenty of hydration are recommended. On the other hand, regarding weather conditions, she indicated that today a cold front is observed extending from the Yucatan Peninsula (Mexico) to Florida (USA), but it is expected to become stationary in the coming hours. On the other hand, the Intertropical Convergence Zone is located over the Isthmus of Panama, generating variable winds from calm to light on the Pacific side, but in the Caribbean, north winds are prevailing. Therefore, we will maintain these conditions of intermittent isolated showers along the Caribbean coast, which will gradually move into the northern, western, and central zones of Panama, she detailed. Showers are also expected for the afternoon in the Guna Yala and Ngäbe-Buglé indigenous regions, with a probability of electrical activity in the Bocas del Toro province. In the Pacific, isolated heavy downpours are expected in most of the slope, with a high probability of being quite strong in the capital city, West Panama, and Veraguas, with possible electrical activity also in these areas. At night, intermittent isolated showers are forecast for the Caribbean slope, but with a probability of electrical activity towards the lower coastal areas of Colón. In the Pacific, the rains will remain in the maritime and coastal zones.
