Panama Fire Corps urges caution with pyrotechnics

The National Directorate for Fire Safety, Prevention, and Investigation (DINASEPI) of the Meritorious Fire Corps of the Republic of Panama reiterated its call to the public to take extreme precautions when using pyrotechnics during New Year's celebrations. Sergeant Josué Cabrera, of DINASEPI, warned that all pyrotechnic articles, without exception, must be handled under the supervision of a responsible adult. He also pointed out that minors should not light or handle pyrotechnics, even those considered low-risk, such as 'cebollitas' or 'estrellitas', due to their potential to cause burns and injuries. Cabrera stated that pyrotechnic devices must be ignited exclusively in open, clear areas away from people, animals, and flammable materials, in order to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of those participating in the celebrations.
