Mulino and Grossi discuss cooperation in nuclear medicine

Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino and IAEA Director Rafael Grossi discussed expanding cooperation in nuclear medicine. The outcome of the meeting was a commitment to create a program for training specialists to work with medical equipment.


The President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, met today with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Mariano Grossi, to review the progress in cooperation projects that the agency maintains with the country. In turn, President Mulino proposed expanding collaboration towards the technical training of Panamanian professionals in the field of nuclear health. In response to this request, Grossi committed to establishing a short-term technical training program. The objective of this initiative is to have qualified personnel to operate and maintain high-complexity equipment, such as the linear accelerator that is expected to become operational by the end of this year. During the meeting, Grossi detailed the progress of the project for the installation of a linear accelerator at the new Bugaba Hospital, in Chiriquí. The meeting took place within the framework of the World Economic Forum held in Davos, Switzerland.
