Several Medical Specialties to be Relocated to New Hospital in Colón

The Social Security Fund (CSS) announced that, as of this Monday, February 9, several medical and surgical specialties will be relocated from the current Dr. Hugo Spadafora Franco Polyclinic to the new facilities of the Dr. Manuel Amador Guerrero Hospital, located in the corregimiento of Cristóbal Este, in Colón. According to the CSS, this measure is part of the modernization process of health services and aims to strengthen the quality of care for insured individuals. It was reported that patients with scheduled appointments in specialties such as geriatrics, cardiology, pulmonology, endocrinology, neurology, rheumatology, internal medicine, and gastroenterology must go directly to the new hospital. Surgical specialties, including neurosurgery, proctology, pediatric gastroenterology, general surgery, plastic surgery, vascular surgery, and urology, will also be relocated. The CSS clarified that the collection of medical prescriptions and new requests for care in these specialties will be handled at the pharmacy and the REGES windows of the hospital itself. Meanwhile, laboratory and radiology studies will continue to be performed at the Dr. Hugo Spadafora Franco Polyclinic, except for emergency tests, which will be attended to at the hospital. The polyclinic will continue to provide general medicine services and the specialties that have not been relocated during its regular hours from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Authorities asked for the public's understanding regarding these changes, which seek to improve the quality of medical care in the province. To avoid uncomfortable situations and setbacks, patients are advised to verify the location of their appointment.
