New Telephone Appointment System for Lab Tests in Panama

Panama's Social Security Fund (CSS) has launched a free telephone system for scheduling lab tests to eliminate queues and improve the patient experience. The service is available at 12 health facilities across the country.

Insured individuals can now schedule their laboratory tests via telephone. The call is free and is available from Monday to Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Through this service, the insured can book an appointment without having to visit a polyclinic or hospital. Additionally, there is a shortage of reagents for certain laboratory tests. Oliver López, national head of the CSS Clinical Laboratories, informed that in the coming days, two or three more polyclinics will be added to the service. Critical issues insured individuals face when trying to get service in laboratories are precisely the long queues they have to form, for which they have to wake up early. This new facility aims to eliminate long lines, optimize service times, and improve the user experience. The facilities that have the system are the David hospital and the polyclinics of David, Penonomé, San Carlos, La Chorrera, Calidonia, Las Cumbres, Betania, Juan Díaz, Santa Librada, Aguadulce, and Natá. The Social Security Fund (CSS) has activated a new telephone appointment system for laboratories in 12 health facilities through the line 199, option 2.
