New San Isidro Policentro de Salud Inaugurated

A new 24-hour Policentro de Salud has been inaugurated in San Miguelito, Panama, offering a wide range of medical services to over 250,000 residents. It is the first health center in the district to operate non-stop.

«The days when this center operated in precarious conditions and in small spaces are over,» stated Boyd Galindo. The new Policentro de Salud in San Isidro, located in the San Miguelito district, will feature a wide range of medical services, including: family medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, obstetrics, electrodiagnostics, dentistry, pharmacy, an ambulatory surgery room, and observation beds for adults and children. Additionally, specialties such as psychiatry, ophthalmology, psychology, dermatology, early stimulation, physical medicine, and rehabilitation will be offered. Algis Torres, regional director of Health for the district, pointed out that the new center will feature prenatal care systems and extended-hour medical consultations, allowing patients to visit even during nighttime hours. Furthermore, Torres confirmed that there will be continuous police presence to reinforce the security of patients. It was reported that the policentro will include a detention area for the custody of detainees who require medical attention. On the other hand, authorities highlighted that this will be the first health center in the district to offer 24-hour uninterrupted care, while other centers operate until 11:00 p.m. The inauguration was also attended by José Ramón Icaza, Presidential Goals Secretary; Manuel Zambrano Chang, Vice Minister of Health, and other officials. After years of waiting, the Policentro de San Isidro, in the Omar Torrijos area of the San Miguelito district, was inaugurated this Tuesday, February 24. According to the Ministry of Health (Minsa), in this first phase, emergency room, laboratory, pharmacy, and administrative services have been enabled. The project will benefit more than 250,000 residents. The entity highlighted that the opening of other health services will be progressive and will be communicated in a timely manner. The project, developed with an investment of $35,199,839.66, was delivered by the Minister of Health, Fernando Boyd Galindo, on behalf of President José Raúl Mulino. «As of today, these doors are open so that you will never again have to travel long distances in search of medical care.»
