Panama Government Launches Plan to Recover Drinking Water

The Government of Panama, alongside the National Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (Idaan), will launch an action plan in the coming days to recover the country's drinking water network, prioritizing the provinces of Herrera and Los Santos, where communities have reported the most severe water service issues. President José Raúl Mulino has designated the Minister of the Presidency, Juan Carlos Orillac, to coordinate this strategy, aimed at bringing solutions to the areas most affected by water scarcity. During a work meeting, the final details of the plan were defined, with the participation of the Secretary of Presidential Goals, José Ramón Icaza, the acting director of Idaan, Luis Santanach, and the general secretary of Conades, Antonio Tercero González. The work includes the installation of pumps for wells, adaptation of water treatment plants, and maintenance of the distribution network, mainly in various points of the Azuero Peninsula, before extending the efforts to other regions of the country. Minister Orillac highlighted that this plan responds to direct instructions from President Mulino, who will also soon announce the construction of new water treatment plants in the country's interior to strengthen the drinking water supply.
