Panama's Ministry of Health and Social Security System held a public distribution of 396 medical internship positions. This action eliminated the backlog in the system and fulfilled all pending applications since 2025. The next distribution will take place in October 2026.

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) and the Social Security System (CSS) have awarded 396 medical internships, allowing all applicants who had been on hold since 2025 to finally secure a spot in the first public act of the year. The event assigned 135 places in the CSS and 261 in the Minsa, as explained by the head of Teaching, Training, and Formation, Mayra Abood. This distribution also managed to include 203 doctors who had not obtained a place in the previous process. The official stated that this assignment eliminated the backlog in the system. The waiting list is now zero.

Additionally, it was confirmed that the next event will take place on October 2, 2026. The places were distributed in centers such as Santo Tomás Hospital, City of Health, José Domingo de Obaldía, Arnulfo Arias Madrid Hospital Complex, Rafael Hernández Regional, Manuel Amador Guerrero, Irma de Lourdes Tzanetatos, and Luis “Chicho” Fábrega.
